Change Your Engine Oil Frequently
Change the engine oil every 3000 miles or 3-4 times a year.
If you drive substantially more or less than 12,000 miles a year we can suggest an appropriate schedule. When you have the oil changed a Morin Bros., we always check the tire pressure and condition, exterior lighting, and, if not too difficult, the air filter. We recommend checking all the fluid levels at least every other oil change, more often if the car has very high miles or is prone to leaks. -
Get A Tune-Up Often
Tune-up your vehicles' ignition and fuel system every 30,000 or 60,000 miles.
Replace the spark plugs, inspect the ignition system, clean the throttle plate, and replace the air and fuel filters at 30 or 60,000 miles. The mileage varies depending on what kind of spark plug your car is equipped and what type of ignition and fuel system it has. -
Change Your Fluids Peroidically
Replace ALL the fluids in the car at least every 30,000 miles or every two years.
This would include transmission fluid, coolant, brake and clutch fluid, and differential and transfer case fluids if applicable. If your car is a Saab or another car or truck with an especially expensive or vulnerable transmission, we recommend changing the fluid once a year. We recommend a complete transmission fluid exchange in the case of automatics (see "equipment"). If the car sits for long periods of time, we recommend replacing the coolant every year. -
Inspect Your Chassis Annually
Inspect the complete chassis every year.
This inspection includes a complete brake inspection, visual inspection of the belts, hoses, battery condition, integrity of the shocks and suspension components, exhaust system, body, and exterior lighting and signaling. -
Lubricate Your Latches Often
Lubricate the door hinges and latch mechanisms every two years.
Don't forget the hood latch as well. This often over looked service can make the difference between a car that can drive you nuts and one that is a pleasure to own!
